Islamic Architecture
The creation of architectural spaces for socializing and for worship is a deep-seated tradition in the Islamic world. On a trip to Iran, I was drawn to and touched by the elegance of this architecture, and by the way that despite the epic scale of some of these structures, there were often smaller scale enclaves where one could pause comfortably to absorb the surroundings.
