IMAGINARY LIVES : The Bazaari
Imaginary Lives : The Bazaari
I’ve always enjoyed shooting mannequins, drawn by the drama of a well designed store display and the weirdness of some of the mannequins themselves. There are stories to be imagined, if we allow ourselves to see with eyes wide open. Over the years the majority of the mannequins I’ve photographed have been what I’d call the fashion plates. Beautifully made, pristine, often draped in expensive garments. In the bazaars of Iran, I came across another class of mannequins- the veterans. Chipped and cracked, new hairstyles drawn with marker pens, parts and pieces missing, held together with packing tape, they still come to work every day just like their fancier brethren. The stories they could tell.
